Conversations about Optimizing Hospital Operations

May 13, 2017 Cyber Attack Announcement

Notice to TeleTracking Customers,

As you may have seen in the news, there has been a massive cyber attack on hospitals in (at the time of this notice) 74 countries, including 17 NHS facilities (UK).  This cyber attack involves ransomware and is demanding $300 Bitcoin to be paid.  This attack exploits vulnerabilities when the latest security OS patches have not been applied according to recommended protocols.

The patch relevant to this issue was released by Microsoft on March 14, 2017.  The Bulletin for this patch is MS17-010 with a Microsoft KB of 4013389.  This patch has been validated by TeleTracking QA already prior to this event.

This patch has been validated and can be applied to servers.  As with all environmental changes, we advise that clients should apply the patch to their test environments first and validate all of their workflows prior to applying the patch to production.

TeleTracking also maintains a list of validated OS patches on our client site.  These validated OS patches can be quickly access after logging into the client site by navigating to Resources > Documents (All) > Support Resources > Operating System Patch Info.  The files which contain the validated patches for 2016 and 2017 can be found at the bottom of the page.

Should you have any questions regarding this event, please do not hesitate to contact Technical Support.

Regards,
Christopher Johnson
