A No-Compromise Solution to LWBS or “Left Without Being Seen”

LWBS-left-without-being-seenLast year, about 80,000 patients left U.S. emergency rooms without treatment when told they would have to pay $150 upfront because they did not have a true emergency. In other words, they Left Without Being Seen (LWBS).

Hospital officials say the trend to upfront payments is a response to mounting bad debt caused by a surge in uninsured and underinsured patients, plus reduced reimbursements for patients who use the ER for routine care.

HIMSS Says Automated Bed Management is ‘Hot’ Trend in Hospitals

Bed-management-hot-trend-himssA new report from HIMSS Analytics titled “Strong Growth in Bed Management IT Applications identifies hospital bed management as a “hot” software market in the nation.

The Spring 2013 edition of Essentials of the US Hospital IT Market reports that operational-related functions, such as contract management, benefits administration and materials management, and bed management applications have a five-year historical growth rate far exceeding those of all other applications profiled in the edition.

We’re gratified for that recognition, especially since TeleTracking created the market. But bed management is only part of the story.
